Characteristics of milling processing

The characteristics of milling processing are as follows:

(1) higher productivity: the milling cutter is a multi-tooth tool, in milling, due to the number of cutting edges participating in the cutting at the same time, the total length of the cutting edge action is long, so the milling productivity is higher, which is conducive to the improvement of cutting speed.

(2) The milling process is not smooth: due to the cutting and cutting of the teeth of the milling cutter, the number of cutting edges that participate in the work changes, resulting in greater changes in the cutting area, and greater fluctuations in the cutting force, which is easy to produce impact and vibration in the cutting process, thus limiting the improvement of surface quality.

(3) Better heat dissipation of the tool teeth: because each tool tooth is intermittent work, the tool teeth can be cooled to a certain extent during the time interval from the workpiece to the cut, and the heat dissipation conditions are better. However, the impact and vibration generated by the teeth when cutting and cutting the workpiece will accelerate the wear of the tool, reduce the durability of the tool, and may even cause the fragmentation of the carbide blade. Therefore, when milling, if the cutting fluid is used to cool the tool, it must be continuously poured to avoid large thermal stress.
