The difference between CNC tool and ordinary tool

Numerical control tool in high performance, high precision CNC machine tool application, in order to achieve stability and good processing efficiency, the design, manufacturing and use of CNC tools are generally put forward higher requirements than ordinary tools. CNC tools and ordinary tools are mainly different in the following aspects.

(1) High precision manufacturing quality
In order to produce high-precision parts surfaces stably, more stringent requirements are put forward for the manufacturing of tools (including tool parts) in terms of precision, surface roughness, form and position tolerance, etc., especially for indexable tools. In order to ensure the repeated accuracy of the size of the blade tip (cutting edge) after indexation, The size, accuracy and surface roughness of key parts such as the tool groove and positioning parts of the tool body must be strictly guaranteed. At the same time, in order to facilitate the tool and size measurement in the tool instrument, the machining accuracy of the base surface should also be guaranteed.

(2) Optimization of tool structure
Advanced tool structure can greatly improve the cutting efficiency, such as high-speed steel CNC milling tool in the structure has been more waveform edge and large spiral Angle structure, carbide indexable tool is used in the internal cooling, blade vertical installation, module replaceable and adjustable structure, and such as internal cooling structure, is not the application of ordinary machine tools.

(3) Wide application of high-quality materials for cutting tools
In order to prolong the service life of the tool, improve the strength of the tool, many CNC tool body materials are made of high strength alloy steel, and heat treatment (such as nitriding surface treatment), so that it can be applied to large cutting, and the tool life can also be significantly improved (ordinary tools are generally used after tempering treatment of medium carbon steel). In the cutting edge material, CNC cutting tools are more use of a variety of new grades of hard alloy (fine particle or ultrafine particle) and super hard tool material.

(4) Reasonable selection of chip breaker
The cutting tools used in NC machine tools have strict requirements for chip – breaking slots. When processing, the tool constantly chip machine tool can not work normally (some CNC machine tools, cutting is in the closed state), so regardless of CNC lathe, milling, drilling or boring machine, the blade is optimized for different processing materials and processes of reasonable chip cutting slot, so that the cutting can be stable chip breaking.

(5) Coating treatment of tool (blade) surface
The appearance and development of tool (blade) surface coating technology is mainly due to the appearance and development of NC tool. Because coating can significantly improve tool hardness, reduce friction, improve cutting efficiency and service life, so in all kinds of hard alloy indexable NC tool most of the coating technology. The coated carbide blade can also be dry cutting, which also creates favorable conditions for green cutting to protect the environment.
